I wouldn’t say I have any one signature scent because I enjoy playing around too much for that. I do tend to switch up my fragrances seasonally though and to mix and match perfumes/colognes to suit my mood for the day. When I read about the launch of Elizabeth and James’ two new fragrances however, I knew immediately that Nirvana Bourbon was going to be a winner!
My fragrance collection has very little variety as far as notes go, I have a couple of oddballs but my collection is primarily made up of scents that include sweet (vanilla) and/or woodsy notes. Nirvana Bourbon falls perfectly into my wheelhouse as it contains both vanilla and oakwood notes (along with tuberose). It is sweet, warm, and absolutely perfect for cool, crisp Fall days and nights.
Packaging for Elizabeth and James has always been on point in my opinion and I love that they took the same textured bottle they used for Nirvana White and Nirvana Black and made it this gorgeous translucent amber shade. It completely fits the name and it looks beautiful on my fragrance tray.
The initial spritz of this is very strongly vanilla and I can see where it could be a bit cloying, but after about 30 minutes or so on me that oak starts to really peek through and the combination gives it that more boozy vibe.
As far as wear I have read/heard mixed reviews as to length of wear so I want to make sure to point out that not everyone’s experience will be the same. I’ve read some reviews that say it only lasts 2-3 hours but that is not my experience at all. Nirvana Bourbon typically lasts about 6-7 hours total on me; it does fade over the day but I can still detect it on my skin even after it’s faded a bit. If anything I think that the warmth of it comes out on me the longer I wear it. I do tend to pull vanilla and woodsy scents very strongly though so those are often longer lasting on me than say something more heavily floral.
This scent isn’t the only thing I’m rocking this Fall, but I can tell you that it is definitely going to be my primary go-to!
Have any of you tried Nirvana Bourbon? What are your favorite fragrance notes?
