MOTD: Pretty in Purple

I recently was going through my makeup stash, when I came across a palette that I hadn’t used in a while, the Laura Mercier Eye Art Artist’s Palette.  It’s such a beautiful palette, especially if you love purple hues, so I thought I’d use it today!

After priming my lids, I applied a purple shade with gold undertones all over the lid.

Next I added some definition to the crease with a matte grayish purple. I also darkened up the outer third of the lid with a dark matte purple.

Plum Smoke through the crease, Violet Ink in the outer corners.

To blend out any harsh lines, I used a fluffy blending brush to diffuse the color in the crease.

No additional color here.

To complete the eyes, I drew a winged liner on the upper lash line, and added a hint of a highlight color to the inner corner.motd-purple-6

I kept the rest of the look simple using a berry cream blush and lip stain.

Revlon Balm Stain in Smitten applied lightly to the lips along with Colour Pop blush in Cheerio.

What’s a pallete you haven’t used in a long time? Do you like smoky purple looks?

  1. I love this look SO much! Ugh palettes. I haven’t used my Vice palettes in a long time, and those are good ones. They are just impractical to reach for. Which is hilarious, because the Morphe palettes are gigantic and are easily reached for, but they are slim..

  2. Such beautiful colours, i’m definately going to have to check out the Laura Mercier Eye Art Artist’s palette now… i’ve been after some purpley shades! They really suit you! X

  3. I haven’t used my Vice 4 palette in awhile (with one exception), but I’m excited to pull it out again this spring, for the sparkling pinks/purples if nothing else. I’ve been using more mattes, or shimmers from other palettes or so singles. Maybe it’s time to “shop my stash”.

One last thing, I do have the tarteist palette that has a lot of purples (but I have light blue eyes so not the best combo), but this formula looks lovely compared to the clay mess that is the tarteist pro palette!

  5. Amazing makeup look…..check. Tamara’s gorgeous face…..check. Instant mortification at my horrid eyeshadow skill….check. Inspiration? Dear lord yes, this is so beautiful ❤
