It’s been about a year since I updated you all on what beauty stuff I haul around in my purse every day, so I thought I’d bust out another “What’s in my Bag Wednesday”! I am fascinated by what other people carry around with them, it’s always fun to hear what they carry and why. A couple of weeks ago I noticed that the zipper on my old travel makeup bag was hanging on for dear life so instead of editing down what I was carrying (like a practical person would), I bought a bigger bag haha! Here’s what I’m working with:
I found this bag at Walgreens for about 3 bucks on clearance and let me tell you, it fits a lot of stuff lol.
Starting on the left I have a grouping of 4 of my favorite MAC Lipsticks including Ruby Woo (blue red), D is for Danger (deep berry), Strip Me Down (my nude from a LE Taraji P Henson Collab), and Viva Glam Taraji P Henson (blue pink, also limited edition). I have a really hard time sometimes committing to one color, so I like to have options!
Next I have a Neutrogena Moisture Smooth Color Stick In Deep Plum; I love crayon lip colors and I think this is one of my favorite formulas in terms of comfort. It fades out really nicely too and the stain it leaves behind is absolutely gorgeous.
Beneath that I have 100 point sample of Fenty Beauty Mattemoiselle Plush Matte Lipstick in Griselda. To be honest, I don’t really like this lipstick that much as it’s intended, I find it to be patchy and to not hold up well on the lips. However, I do like to dot it on my mouth for a little bit of a stain effect (I top it with lip balm), or for a makeshift cream blush.
The Urban Decay Naked 2 Basics Palette is also in my bag of goodies. I really only use it for the mirror, but I like to have in on hand in case I need to crank out a quick eye look in a pinch. I also carry hand sanitizer, that’s pretty self-explanatory lol!
I get super shiny through my t-zone by about midday, so I always have some blotting papers on me. These are Mary Kay, but I don’t really have a preference, just whatever I can get my hands on!
I’m not totally sure where I land on the essential oils train, but I do love these sample rollers my friend Aubrie gave me. One is for headaches which helps me at least temporarily and the other is for muscle soreness (again temporary relief, but gets the job done).
I bet you thought we were done with lipsticks didn’t you? What is the limit of lipsticks one person can carry with them? I say there is no limit, the limit does not exist!!! Which is why I also carry Maybelline Creamy Matte Lipstick in Rich Ruby (another blue-toned red that’s more comfortable than Ruby Woo), Maybelline Creamy Matte Lipstick in Touch of Spice (my favorite my lips but better shade), and Milani Matte Glam Lipstick (vibrant purple).
My general thought process behind packing my makeup bag is to have what I need to do a full look if for some reason I find myself needing to get it together on the go. It is for that reason that I carry a dual ended brow brush from Makeup Geek (the spoolie on this thing is the best), a liquid liner pen (Kat Von D Tattoo Liner is my favorite), MAC Lip Liner in Whirl (for my neutral lip looks), NYX Lip Liner in Hot Red, and NYX Eyebrow Powder Pencil in Espresso.
A great lip and a strong brow are kind of my thing, which is why I have so many lip and brow products in this bag. Since most of the lip colors that I gravitate towards are matte, I always keep a Glossier Balm Dotcom on me to keep my lips soft and smooth. This balm has been a staple for me for a couple of years now, I always have at least 2-3 scattered in various places. I also love the Essence Make Me Brow Gel for brows on the go (read my full review here).
Elaborate eye makeup is something I love doing, but lately I haven’t had as much time for it. I usually opt to do bold brows and lips and then give my eyes a little pop with mascara (right now it’s Essence Get Big Lashes, but I don’t know that I’m married to it). In keeping with my basic makeup look, I also love love love the Tyra Beauty Cheek in a Stick Blush in Sexy Hot Flash. Barring the stupid name (I mean, I’ve never heard anyone say a hot flash was sexy, but that’s none of my business *sips tea*) this product is my favorite cream blush!
The rest of my bag is just full of miscellaneous goodies: nail clippers, a squalene oil sample from Biossance (emergency skin care/cuticle oil), a sample of Sympathy for the Skin from Lush, a Tom Ford Black Orchid rollerball sample, some bobby pins, and a hair tie!
Phew! Can I count typing all of that out as my cardio for the day lol?
